What should I wear for a psychological evaluation
Just wear something comfortable. You’ll be with the evaluator for several hours, so you’ll want to dress with comfort in mind.
Should I bring anything with me to my psychological evaluation
For the most part, you will not be required to bring anything. If there are records about your mental health you want the evaluator to see, please bring a copy.
What kind of questions are asked during a psychological evaluation?
The point of a psych eval is get a complete picture of you. To get this, you will be asked about your life (past and present), fucntioning, medical information, and anything important about you. If you do not feel comfortable with some questions, please let the psychologist know.
Can I do anyting to prepare for my psychological evaluation
There is no needed preparation. Get a good night’s sleep and relax.
Can someone come with me to my psychological evaluation?
If it is appropriate, you may be able to invite someone in. The psychologist may ask some questions without the other person. During Standardized Tests, you are asked to participate alone in order to obtain valid results.
My child/dependent is having a psych eval done, can I answer the questions for him/her?
You are definitely allowed to answer interview questions if you feel your child cannot do so for whatever reason. However, during Standardized Testing you will be asked to excuse yourself.
Can you tell me more about the evaluation process
Evaluations almost always begin with a clinical interview. The provider asks the client several questions to help the provider get to know the client and understand things about the clients life; past and present.
Depending on why the psychological testing is being done, the clinical interview might be the only thing needed.
If more is needed, the psychologist will do some Standardized Testing, using scientifically founded, and certified psychological tests. These tests have a variety of prescribed, and percise questions for the client to answer.
RESULTS
When will I get the results of my psychological evaluation
This depends on the organization paying for the evaluation. If you are getting testing done on your own, we will set up an appointment to review results.
If a state agency or 3rd party business or organization is paying for your evaluations, we will send the results to them. Their individual policy will determine how, when and if the results are shared with you.
Who has access to my eval when it is completed
Rest assured, the number of people with access to your evaluation results is limited and controlled by you and/or your legal guardian.
At the beginning of the evaluation you, or your legal guardian, will be asked to sign a consent to treat, and a release of information. By law, we are only able to give your HIPPA protected information to people/organziations for whom a release of information has been signed.

How Much Does Psych Testing Cost
The cost of testing varies. If your testing has been scheduled by a state agency, the testing cost will likely be covered by the state agency. If you’ve been told you need to pay for your testing, contact the admin team for an accurate cost statement.
For self-pay evals, the rate is $160 per hour. An eval typically takes 2-4 hours face to face, and then 6-12 hours of writing and interpretation time, for a total of 8-16 hours per eval.
Do we accept insurance
At this time, we do not accept insurace. The exception to this general rule is that do accept some forms of state medicaid: specifically the medicaid type which is used by wards of the state of Utah.
We can offer private-pay clients a super bill to submit to their insurance for potential reimbursement.
Additionally, we have partnerships with companies who do take insurances. We would be happy to give you that contact info if desired.
MISC QUESTIONS
Where will my testing be located
We are a group of travel psychologists, meaning we typically come to you. The organization or state agency which helped arrange your eval will be able to tell you where you will need to go for testing. If you can not get in contact with them, feel free to contact our admin team.
If you are an individual client, seeking testing with us without a 3rd party, we will arrange a location to meet for testing.
